Play a meaningful role in helping to care for disadvantaged children or vulnerable adults, to help improve their situations. You can join one of our Care projects available in Orphanages, Crèches, Schools, Hospitals and Social Centres, where you can work with orphans, abused children, street children, children with learning and physical disabilities, and adults.

BALI | INDONESIA:
Care For and Teach Children in a Kindergarten in Bali
Care for and teach English to young Balinese children; aged 4 to 5 years old, whose curious minds and natural friendliness gives you the opportunity to make a real impact. You'll encourage the children to learn and grow creatively, thus sowing the seeds for a greater future in years to come.
The Kindergarten offers free kindergarten education to 4-5 year old children from poor villages in and around the area. The local children are warm and affectionate and would rather spend time playing than learning.

BRAZIL:
Care for Children in Creches on the Island of Florianopolis
You'll teach, entertain and care for children ranging from 2 to 5 years, with activities like basic English lessons and playing educational games. Apart from general caring, you can also tech them the alphabet, colours, names of animals, etc., by using flashcards, organising games, singing and narrating nursery rhymes - all these activities bring huge smiles to the children’s faces! This is a great opportunity to spend time with the children of this wonderful island community.

BRAZIL:
Care for Children in a Crèche in Rio de Janeiro
You'll care for children ranging from 1 to 5 years. The activities are based on helping the teachers to take care of the children, as well as developing educational games, and recreational activities. You'll mainly be playing with the children, feeding them, bathing them, reading to them and finding ways to interact and help them learn. Altogether there about 200 children, and about 25 members of staff.

CHINA:
Teach and Care for Children at the Lucky Kids Kindergarten in Yangzhou
You'll use games and activities to teach the children English in an informal, interactive setting. Lucky Kids Kindergarten is located in a large and colourful building and you can feel the fun atmosphere as soon as you walk into the entrance hall.
Whether you want to work in early years education, or if you'd just rather teach English at a more basic level, this project is for you. You'll be teaching and caring for younger children from ages 3 up to 6. No qualifications required, all you need is a big smile and your creativity

COSTA RICA:
Care for Children in Kindergartens and Care Centres in Heredia
Teach and entertain young children who come from disadvantage backgrounds in kindergartens and care centres. You'll care for children ranging from 2 to 5 years. The activities are mainly based on basic English lessons and playing educational games.
Apart from general caring, you can also be involved in teaching them the alphabet, colours, names of animals, etc., by using flashcards, organising games, singing and narrating nursery rhymes – bringing uge smiles to the children’s faces!

ECUADOR:
Voluntary Work with Street Kids in Quito
Work with a recently formed NGO that was founded by two psychologists who want to help children, youth and adults living on the streets of Quito. The main objective of this project is to help people in desperate situations, by giving them a safe environment to eat, shower, relax, meet peers, make friends and learn new skills in.

ECUADOR:
Care for Children at a Children's Hospital in Quito
Children from all over Ecuador end up in this public hospital with a range of short and long term medical conditions. You'll help to keep them cheerful and optimistic during their stay with games and other activities, as well as providing educational support to those who've been in hospital a long time.
You'll need a little Spanish to do this project, but we've got that covered! If you have no knowledge of Spanish at all, you can combine your project with two weeks of Spanish.

GHANA:
Care for Children in a Pre-School in Accra
Work in a pre-school in the Kwabenya region of Accra with orphaned and underprivileged children. You'll be involved in activities like playtime, feeding, basic teaching. Help them to learn basic numerical and English skills, drawing, painting, music and games.
You'll care for and teach children from a mixture of social backgrounds, aged between 1 to 5 years.

INDIA:
Care for Orphans in a Centre in Madurai
This is a great project if you love working with babies and young children and want some hands-on experience! You'll be involved with the day to day running of the Orphanage and help the nurses wash, feed and play with the children.
The Orphanage is a home for victims of female infanticide and abandoned children. There are around 20 children at the orphanage, but this number changes frequently as new children are brought in or are adopted.

INDIA:
Care for Children with Learning and Physical Disabilities
Assist in a large institution that cares for and schools approximately 160 children ranging from babies to the age of 4 or 5. About 130 of these students live at the Centre; the others are brought in daily by their parents.
The children mainly suffer from Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Microcephaly, Autism, Epilepsy, Deafness and some of the children are slow learners and dyslexic. The aim of the school is to help the children to study, build confidence and develop essential life skills.

MALAYSIA:
Care and Physiotherapy for Disabled and Abused Women and Children in Borneo
Help children with mental, physical and emotional disabilities as well as some young adults and abused women/children. This is a challenging and rewarding project that is suitable for either those with basic care experience or fully qualified Physiotherapists.
This is a live-in residential care project situated close to Sabah's beautiful coastline and around 15 minutes drive from it's thriving capital, Kota Kinabalu.

NEW ZEALAND:
Care for Children with Cerebral Palsy in Auckland
Assist caring for and teaching the children to help their development. The school you'll work in offers education and therapy for students who are severely disabled with Cerebral Palsy. Some have physical disabilities, but some have cognitive potential comparable to chronological age. Many have hi-tech assistive communication devices.
You’ll work mainly as a Teaching Aid but you'll also observe and assist the various therapists as they work with students and the team of staff to facilitate student learning.

NEW ZEALAND:
Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech Language Therapy with Physically Disabled Children in Auckland
You'll assist in a special unit that has a large number of children with physical disabilities such as multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy and mobility problems.You'll work as a teacher aid and shadow the existing therapists, either in groups or one-on-one with the students. You'll also work with the children in a classroom environment and this will give you additional experience in how to work with their disabilities and to overcome these obstacles within education.

SOUTH AFRICA:
Psychology, Social Work and Counselling Work Experience in Knysna
Work with social workers who provide Counselling services to people in need of support owing to emotional problems, such as marital and family stress, depression, mid-life crisis, divorce counselling, HIV-related counselling, conflict management and parenting.
The Society (FAMSA - Families South Africa) is very much family orientated, serving to help resolve family problems and disintegration. It is one of a chain of Centres throughout South Africa. You'll learn a lot about all the areas of counselling and social work that they deal with.

Care for Disabled and Special Needs Children in Cape Town
Work with children with autism, special needs, or physical or mental impairment. You can work at one particular Centre or you can spread your time out between different institutes. The work differs at the different Centres. The Centres are for local children who need extra special care and attention due to physical, mental or social disadvantages.

SOUTH AFRICA:
Care with Children at the Red Cross Hospital in Cape Town
Children from a few months old to 12 years of age attend this Children's Hospital for specialised treatment. You'll visit the children, hand out toys, play and interact with them, and give them lots of comfort and love. Even something as simple as entertaining the children with stories lifts their morale and helps the healing process.
You may also assist with general non-medical support, e.g., accompanying a patient to another department, collecting folders and fetching food, etc, or assisting the pharmacy area or clinics where patients wait for their medication. You may also assist in various out-patients departments as administrative support, or assist in the fund-raising shop.

Care for Kids in a Children’s Safe-House in Knysna
You'll assist the trained Carers in a children’s Safe-House in the local township by helping to care for children from abusive backgrounds. You'll work with a variety of ages, from assisting in the soup kitchen, general caring for the youngsters, and observing counselling to HIV sufferers.
This rewarding project would suit anyone keen keen on Social Work, Teaching or Child Care.

SOUTH AFRICA:
Deaf School Project in Cape Town
Work in a school in Cape Town that caters for partially and fully deaf children. You'll work with children from 3 to 13 years old, right from when they're first introduced to sign language. The content of the lessons is the same as a regular school, so any subjects you have some knowledge in would be most welcome.
The school is very poor with just a few classrooms, library and a hall, so every bit of involvement by you makes an incredible difference!

SOUTH AFRICA:
Street Kids Project: Social work / Care with Children in Knysna
Work at a Youth Development Centre in a township on the outskirts of the beach resort of Knysna, helping out with anything from basic schooling, such as reading or writing, to community projects and life skills lessons. Your work will combine many aspects that all help to provide a caring environment where guidance and assessment is offered to children living on the streets and children at risk.
The purpose is to get the youngssters ready to be taken back into the mainstream schooling and domestic home life again. A very worthwile project.

SOUTH AFRICA:
Care for Children in a Crèche in Knysna
Play an important role in helping to prepare the children for primary school through the media of fun activities and educational programmes. Many of the children come from underprivileged homes.
You'll have a lot of freedom to set up your own day's activities, if you would like to, and also to paint murals to brighten up the class rooms. Activities include singing, painting, reading, educational classes (like learning the alphabet) and playing with educational toys.

SOUTH AFRICA:
Teach and Care for Mentally and Physically Impaired Children in Cape Town
Help in a school that has just over 200 children with physical and intellectual impairments. The pupils are aged from 3 years old to 18. There are four sections covering nursery, junior, middle and senior.
Work as a classroom assistant or class aide (helping children in and out of wheelchairs for different activities, or helping the teacher with various class activities, like painting, doing puzzles – and with the older children cooking, simple maths and reading etc). Other tasks include reading stories to children, helping children to simple tasks on the computer and supervising the outdoor activities

SRI LANKA:
Care for Children in an Orphanage / Children's Home / Nutrition Centre near Ja-Ela
You'll work with over 80 orphaned children from very young babies up to 18 years old in a Children’s Centre, Orphanage, Nutrition Centre, Pre-school and Village ‘Home’ - an excellent example of thoughtful care in Sri Lanka.
Your help is needed to play with the toddlers and care for the babies. Love and care is the most important job required! The types of activities the children over 5 do include netball practice, computer classes, cookery, sewing & handicraft, music, English lessons, Math's classes ... Each day has a different programme.

HIV / AIDS Orphan Care and Teaching Assistance in Gweru
Make an impact on the lives of underprivileged and disabled children! Assist with loving and caring for as well as mentoring orphans and physically disabled, from the very young to high school age.
Your activities could include teaching assistance, study programmes, workshop hosting, sports coaching, repairs and maintenance at the homes, painting, gardening, youth camps and life skills training. Your help in caring for babies and younger children will involve changing and feeding as well as assisting with planned activities and games at the homes.
