ZIMBABWE
A million tourists a year visit Zimbabwe's attractions - the majestic Victoria Falls, the medieval Zimbabwe Ruins, the Matapos National Park with its incredible rock formations. But you mustn't miss Hwange Game Reserve - it's awesome!

You can help the community in a variety of projects, from conservation research, rehabilitation and release of lions, to providing community development, care and teaching assistance to orphans and children. You can also gain good basic medical experience on a community healthcare project in Gweru.

Please see our list of brief descriptions below, then click on the link to read all about the project. CAN'T CHOOSE? Call our Zimbabwe Project Consultant, Ivy Adams, for free advice on which Project would be best for you. +44 (0)1903 502595

Walk with Lions: The Lion Research, Rehabilitation and Release Project in GWERU
Extremely close encounters with Lions on this Lion Breeding Project. Some of the work on this project is quite unusual, to say the least. (Where else would you take lions for a walk every day to exercise them and to familiarise them with a game reserve environment!). On the walks, the lions are 'free roaming' - no leashes - they romp, they play and they stalk, and you may frequently be lucky enough to have a large cub sitting on your lap sucking your thumb.
Your work will assist in helping this project to continue and, over the long term, will also hopefully contribute to preventing the decrease in the lion population in Africa.

The Falls and the town lie within a 23,4 square km National Park that neighbours the 573 square km Zambezi National Park

Community Healthcare and Medical Project in Gweru
Gain basic medical experience in local clinics and play a role in HIV/AIDS education and awareness. You'll be able to get involved in not only this clinic but others in the nearby area as well. You do not need to be qualified in any particular area.
Your accommodation is in the same location as volunteers on the Lion Project - and it's stunning. Pure Africa. Gorgeous!
