Care for Orphans in Madurai in India
Work at an orphanage in the temple town of Madurai. Your involvement will be very hands on and rewarding and you will fall in love instantly with the children with smiles that will melt your heart. You really will make a difference to their lives.
They’ve made me laugh so much, they’re amazing kids and I wish I could take them all home!! The adoptions I got to witness were a particular highlight for me, it was so lovely to see the children finally have loving parents and knowing they will now have a good chance in life. Daisy Axtell-Powell

Care for Children with Learning and Physical Disabilities in Madurai
Work with a large institution based in Madurai that cares and schools approximately 160 children ranging from babies to the age of 45. About 130 of these students are provided with residential care; the others are brought to the school each day by their parents.The children mainly suffer from Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Microcephaly, Autism, Epilepsy, Deafness and some of the children are slow learners and dyslexic.
You'll help with arts & crafts, hand-eye co-ordination skills, yoga sessions, sewing and embroidery, music and dance classes, and lots, lots more!

Generally, your day will start with accompanying the doctors on ward rounds. You'll also be able to sit in on doctor-patient consultations. You'll be assigned to a doctor or nurse who will supervise you during each session.

Teach Drama to Underprivileged Children in Schools
Teach drama to children from the ages of 5 to 12, mainly at matriculation schools where English is taught as the main language. The Principals at the schools are very keen for the children to develop their acting skills and you'll have free rein on devising your own lessons.
You may even be able to put on a production at the school.

Coach Football to Children in Madurai
The children are a joy to teach as they are incredibly enthusiastic about games. They turn up for training each day eager to learn new skills, have fun and practice their English. Coaching sports has immeasurable indirect benefits for the children, such as health awareness, increased confidence and social skills.
You'll usually coach for 3 to 5 hours at one school only, however there is a possibility that you may coach in two sessions and at two different venues. You will work in secondary schools and you will normally help out with all age groups.

Coach A Variety of Sports to Children
You can coach cricket, football, tennis, volleyball, badminton, basketball and table tennis to many age groups, mainly in secondary schools in the bustling city of Madurai. You may coach between 10 and 30 children at a time (aged between 7 and 16), but sometimes the children are split into smaller groups with the PE teacher taking half of them.

Summer Camps for Underprivileged Children
During the summer holidays many of the schools offer “Summer Camps” to about 60 children. Generally, you can teach conversational English, and lots, lots more. These camps normally take place on the school grounds and are an opportunity to give more informal lessons and to include a variety of fun activities. They can also be combined with playing sports or putting together a play. The camps are much more relaxed and not quite so structured, but they're a lot of fun! and the kids adore them!
